A Day in the Life of Jesus
In a world where countless voices compete for our attention and everyone claims to be an authority, how do we recognize true authority when we encounter it? As we study a portion of the Gospel of Mark, we'll step into a remarkable day in the life of Jesus Christ. But what set Jesus apart from the other religious leaders of His day? It wasn't merely what He taught but the unmistakable authority with which He taught it. Join Tom Pennington from the Gospel of Mark as he helps us understand A Day in the Life of Jesus.

All the World's a Stage
The ideas that shape our culture are often far older than we realize. From the ancient philosopher Protagoras' declaration that "man is the measure of all things" to today's widespread belief that life is ultimately about personal fulfillment, the influence of human-centered thinking remains powerful. Yet Scripture presents a radically different perspective: we are not the center of the universe—God is. Join Tom Pennington as he explores Ephesians 2 to help us see that in God's plan of redemption, All the World's a Stage.

War and Peace: Learning to Deal with Conflict
Historians tell us that out of thousands of years of recorded history, humanity has experienced only a few centuries of peace—and the Bible reveals why: the deepest wars are not merely fought between nations but within the human heart of every person. Today, as we begin exploring James 4, Pastor Tom helps us discover that the source of our quarrels, arguments, and broken relationships is far closer than we often realize. Rather than pointing the finger at others, the Bible challenges us to examine ourselves and uncover the sinful desires that fuel conflict in every area of life. Join Tom Pennington from James 4 as we consider the theme of War and Peace: Learning to Deal with Conflict.

For His Eyes Only: Giving to the Glory of God
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus addresses the three great pillars of Jewish piety: giving, praying, and fasting. But He begins with a staggering warning against the sin of hypocrisy—practicing our righteousness before men to be noticed by them. Our Lord teaches that those who perform for the applause of the crowd have no reward from their Father in heaven. Join Tom Pennington as he considers the Sermon on the Mount and a Christian perspective on giving—For His Eyes Only: Giving to the Glory of God.

Lord Willing
There is a certain philosophy and idea in our world today that teaches self-determinism—the idea that I’m in control of my life and I can do anything I want if I believe in it long enough. But such thinking is completely contrary to what the Bible teaches about life. The book of James teaches that as followers of Jesus Christ, we must constantly acknowledge and joyfully accept God's sovereignty over our lives in all circumstances. Join Tom Pennington as he explains James 4 and the Christian phrase: Lord Willing.

Recognizing False Teachers
In John 4, John the Apostle demands that we, as Christians, diligently apply several biblical tests to every spiritual idea, every message, or every sermon that we hear in order to distinguish genuine teachers who teach God's truth from false teachers who, in fact, teach damning error. Such a message was appropriate for 1st century Christians—but, at the same time, this same message is vital for Christians to understand today. Join Tom Pennington as he demonstrates from Scripture how Christians must be committed to Recognizing False Teachers.

Give Thanks and Sing!
The book of Psalms has been described as a book that reveals a personal pattern of worship, that is, how God’s people can come to Him in worship. The theme of Psalm 92 is that it is good for the people of God to give thanks and to sing praises to God. In fact, this psalm reveals several important lessons about thanksgiving and why we, as Christians, must be committed to a life of thankfulness to our God. Join Tom Pennington as he considers Psalm 92 and the fact that all Christians must Give Thanks and Sing!

Tribulation Saints
In Revelation 6–19, the apostle John describes a future seven-year tribulation period in which God’s wrath and judgment are poured out on the unbelieving world. But during this time, God shows unparalleled grace in continuing to call sinners to repentance and redemption through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Join Tom Pennington as he gives an in-depth explanation of the Tribulation Saints God uses to evangelize the lost during the Tribulation years.

The Dark Guest
Romans chapter 7 is one of the most controversial passages in the New Testament, and it has been hotly debated since the early centuries of the church. But, at its heart, Romans 7 is the apostle Paul’s testimony regarding his own battle with sin during his Christian life. For Christians, Paul’s words are just as pertinent today as they were in the first century. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul encourages believers to fight our sin as we continue to pursue Christlikeness in this life. Join Tom Pennington as he describes the battle that every Christian fights against The Dark Guest.

The Beatitudes
Throughout church history professing Christians have approached the interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount in several different ways. But how you interpret the Sermon on the Mount will radically determine not only how you understand Jesus’ preaching, but also how you live the Christian life. Therefore, it is crucial that we as Christians understand how to rightly interpret and understand Jesus’ most famous words—beginning with the beatitudes. Join Tom Pennington as he gives an explanation of each of The Beatitudes.
