A Day in the Life of Jesus
In a world where countless voices compete for our attention and everyone claims to be an authority, how do we recognize true authority when we encounter it? As we study a portion of the Gospel of Mark, we'll step into a remarkable day in the life of Jesus Christ. But what set Jesus apart from the other religious leaders of His day? It wasn't merely what He taught but the unmistakable authority with which He taught it. Join Tom Pennington from the Gospel of Mark as he helps us understand A Day in the Life of Jesus.

All the World's a Stage
The ideas that shape our culture are often far older than we realize. From the ancient philosopher Protagoras' declaration that "man is the measure of all things" to today's widespread belief that life is ultimately about personal fulfillment, the influence of human-centered thinking remains powerful. Yet Scripture presents a radically different perspective: we are not the center of the universe—God is. Join Tom Pennington as he explores Ephesians 2 to help us see that in God's plan of redemption, All the World's a Stage.

War and Peace: Learning to Deal with Conflict
Historians tell us that out of thousands of years of recorded history, humanity has experienced only a few centuries of peace—and the Bible reveals why: the deepest wars are not merely fought between nations but within the human heart of every person. Today, as we begin exploring James 4, Pastor Tom helps us discover that the source of our quarrels, arguments, and broken relationships is far closer than we often realize. Rather than pointing the finger at others, the Bible challenges us to examine ourselves and uncover the sinful desires that fuel conflict in every area of life. Join Tom Pennington from James 4 as we consider the theme of War and Peace: Learning to Deal with Conflict.

For His Eyes Only: Giving to the Glory of God
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus addresses the three great pillars of Jewish piety: giving, praying, and fasting. But He begins with a staggering warning against the sin of hypocrisy—practicing our righteousness before men to be noticed by them. Our Lord teaches that those who perform for the applause of the crowd have no reward from their Father in heaven. Join Tom Pennington as he considers the Sermon on the Mount and a Christian perspective on giving—For His Eyes Only: Giving to the Glory of God.

Wars, Rumors of Wars & the Last War
Daniel chapter 11 is a profound portion of prophetic Scripture that details key events from when Daniel received the vision of God in 536 BC to the future kingdom of God that’s to come at the end of the world. Daniel records these future events to demonstrate that God is the only true God and that there is no one like Him. For us, as Christians, we need to understand that God, from eternity past, has decreed an all-wise and perfect plan and that He is bringing it to pass according to His will, for His glory and our good. Join Tom Pennington as he gives an in-depth explanation from Daniel 11 about Wars, Rumors of Wars & the Last War.

April 9, 30 AD
Everything about the Christian faith rests on one, single historical event: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity—that’s how important this one event is. If there is no resurrection, then all of Christianity and the Bible is a sham. But in God’s providence, all four gospels reveal the details about the resurrection, and the rest of the New Testament explains what this doctrine means. But, as Christians, we must not only embrace the reality of the resurrection, but its implications must manifest themselves in the way we live life and how we conduct ourselves in the local church. Join Tom Pennington as he explains what happened on April 9, 30 AD.

How to Pray for This Church
Ephesians 3 records the greatest of the apostle Paul’s prayers. In it, he pours out his heart to God the Father, who always hears His people’s prayers. For Paul, prayer was such a crucial part of his life that he knew that no Christian could survive without it. In Ephesians 3, Paul gives us, as Christians, a prayer to mimic and model—one that we all can use in our daily prayer. Join us as Tom Pennington considers the foundational principles of prayer and How to Pray for This Church.

The Biblical Case for the Resurrection
Could you defend from Scripture the resurrection of Jesus Christ? Sadly, many Christians, although they believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, cannot give an in-depth defense of it from the Scriptures. But the New Testament calls Christians to give a reason and a defense for believing the truths that we believe. In other words, Christians must be, to one degree or another, apologists for the faith. Since the resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to Christianity, every believer must be able to defend such a monumental event. Join Tom Pennington as he builds from Scripture The Biblical Case for the Resurrection.

The End of the Story
The gospel of Mark is unique in that, at the end of the narrative, a controversial portion of Scripture exists. In fact, Mark 16:9–20 is one of the most controversial passages in all of Scripture. But not in terms of the truth, because what is written there is true, but whether it is part of Mark’s original writing. In this brief series, Pastor Tom will help us, as Christians, understand not only what this passage means but also how this text of Scripture found its way into the Bible and whether we should consider it part of the original text. Join Tom Pennington as he concludes his study in the gospel of Mark with The End of the Story.

God Rules!
There is a constant battle that every Christian faces as we fight against worldly ideas and secular philosophies and embrace the truth of God’s Word. One often overlooked aspect of this battle relates to our daily decisions and actions. Do we, as Christians, make decisions based on the prevailing philosophies of the world and culture, or do we acknowledge and submit to God and His Word while we navigate the course of our lives? This key issue needs to be biblically understood by every Christ follower. Join Tom Pennington as he teaches from the book of James that our God Rules!
