The Canon
What exactly is the Canon of Scripture? It's the collection of the 66 books officially recognized as Scripture: God's inspired, authoritative Word. Many Christians think church councils in the 3rd and 4th centuries decided which 66 books belong in the Bible. But that's not quite how it happened. In this series, Pastor Tom walks us through how the Bible actually came to be—and how we can be confident these are the only inspired books God gave us. Join Tom Pennington as he makes a compelling case for The Canon.
Part 1
Throughout biblical history, God’s people came to recognize that what these men wrote was truly from God Himself. And it is through these writings that God has told us about Himself and how we must live in response to Him. So we as Christians can be confident we have the right books—and in this series on the Canon of Scripture, we will discover why.
Part 2
Many evangelicals have never considered how the Bible came to be or why we accept certain books and reject others. Some even doubt whether these books are God's Word at all. Pastor Tom helps us understand the Bible's origins, particularly the Old Testament, and why we can trust we have the right books.
Part 3
The Apocrypha is a collection of writings, written before the time of Jesus, between the Old and New Testaments. While many claim authority for these books, the evidence tells a different story. Pastor Tom Pennington reveals the historical and scriptural reasons the early church rejected the Apocrypha—arguments you may never have heard before.
